On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a historic speech at the United Nations in Geneva declaring that LGBT rights are human rights and human rights are LGBT rights.

Many excellent points made by Secretary Clinton here. I'm glad someone as high profile and influential as she has given this speech.

Unfortunately, cynical me thinks it was done partly as a smokescreen/cover up for starting a war somewhere.

Thanks for your thoughts Shaun, it's been too long since I've seen you. I too am so glad that someone so high profile made such an important speech; of course I wish Obama had made it. Word is that Stephen Harper is making such a speech (cough cough).

I think Obama needs to show more leadership here and, screw the opposition, stand up for marriage equality and against crimes against the LGBT community.
